P eople go to Chicago for a lot of reasons — the nightlife, the sports, the architecture, and the steaks. Chicago is a great steakhouse city. My family started out there. My father was a busboy at Ruth’s Chris, then became a server at Ditka’s. These high quality restaurants were a part of the culture and the lifestyle and became a part of our family.

When we moved to Saugatuck, we realized that it was missing a great steakhouse. We loved our new home, and adjusted well to the coastal small-town life, but it was something we missed too. We wanted to bring that great steakhouse to West Michigan. Bowdie’s is our contribution to our new home. It’s something we love to do, and we know how to do it right.

We recently brought on a new team member, Kenton — a great mixologist from Grand Rapids — in order to keep pursuing our goal of delivering the highest quality to our guests. That is why we have kept our size small. We want your dining experience to feel unique, intimate, and of the highest quality. Our dining room, which only seats twenty-five, feels like a classic steakhouse. Linen table cloths and candles set the atmosphere while keeping the focus on the reason you come to Bowdie’s — the steaks. We look forward to hosting you soon.

B owdie’s Chophouse is the type of high-class quality you’d expect to find in Lower Manhattan. The thing is, it’s in cozy Saugatuck. So, you’re surely in for a treat when you book a reservation. When you walk in, you’ll first notice the rustic elegance in the woodgrain and leather appointments. The more rustic elements are perfectly contrasted, and therefore complimented, by the elegant tableware and white linens. This should be your first signal that you’re in for incredible quality food. To start, you’ll want to try any one of their excellent appetizers. From escargot to ceviche to seared pork belly, there’s something to whet your appetite. Then, for those seeking something a little on the lighter side, a selection of soup and salads as well as lighter entrees like pan-seared trout or a roasted half chicken are available. But, for the true essence of Bowdie’s Chop House, you’ve got to experience the wonder that is their steak.
